At Goovigen State School we share Education Queensland’s vision, purpose and aim to provide a high quality education that makes a positive difference to the lives of all our students from prep to year 6. We equip our students for the future so that they can contribute to a socially, economically and culturally vibrant society. Goovigen State School provides a safe and tolerant learning environment for all students, teachers and staff; recognising diversity and treating all people with respect and dignity.

Student groupings are multi-age from prep to grade 6.

The staff consists of a teaching principal, two teacher aides, administrative assistant, school cleaner and grounds person. Specialist staff including a music teacher (who is based at our school as a classroom teacher one day per week), and Japanese (our 'Languages other than English' subject) teach our students on a weekly basis. Goovigen State School also has a very dedicated guidance officer, special education outreach service and a Speech Pathologist who visit the school when required.

Goovigen State School has strong community links with other small schools within the district: Jambin, Prospect Creek, Wowan and Mt Murchinson as part of the Callide Valley Small School Cluster.

Goovigen State School hosts the 'Small Schools’ Public Speaking' Competition every year and the small schools in the cluster take turns hosting cluster sports days and 'Under 8’s Day'. Our students have swimming lessons with instructors once a week during term four. Every year the whole school, prep to year 6 participate in a week long school camp at varying locations throughout Queensland.
